Alissa,* who is a survivor of human trafficking, received help from the Safe Jobs Collaborative.

Last year, Alissa contacted a partner in the collaborative saying she needed help escaping her trafficker. Our partner agency, REST, got Alissa into a shelter and started to work with her. Alissa had been trafficked since she was a young girl and, even though she is now an adult, she lacked previous work experience, making finding a job challenging.

Through working alongside our Safe Jobs Collaborative Employment Specialist, Alissa gained valuable interview and resume building skills. Alissa’s hard work paid off and she was interviewed and hired by a Safe Jobs employer.

Alissa’s favorite part of her new job is learning new things and working with her co-workers.

For Alissa, this job is just the start. She’s working towards her goal of renting her own place, and finding stability so she can start the process of getting her kids back. Alissa is on a new path toward freedom.
