Flights to Freedom
Aviation Training

Flights to Freedom is a human trafficking prevention training that helps airport employees identify the signs of human trafficking and take steps to prevent it. Human trafficking victims are often moved through airports. But when aviation employees know what to watch for, human trafficking can be recognized, responded to safely, and reported effectively.

Flights to Freedom provides airport staff with the information they need to be able recognize potential human trafficking activity in airports today. The Flights to Freedom training is available online and FREE for individuals. Other options for employers include course customization, completion reports, live trainings, Q&A sessions, train-the-trainer services, and more.

train employees to assist potential victims of human trafficking

“At the Port of Seattle, we have an ongoing commitment to raise awareness about human trafficking and learn how to prevent it or report it. This includes training our employees, but also raising awareness with travelers passing through our airport. Our partnership with BEST has helped substantially with that.”

Sam Cho, Port of Seattle Commissioner for Seattle Tacoma International Airport

It's happening

80% of victims were trafficked internationally through official border points, such as airports.
71% of labor trafficking survivors in the U.S. traveled by airplane during their exploitation.

It's harmful

Young children, teenagers, and adults are being sexually exploited and forced to work against their will.
Human trafficking creates safety and security risks for travelers and airport leaders.

You can help

Training for airport employees will teach you to spot the signs and how to safely respond.
The best way to end it, is to prevent it.

“Many employees within an airport or airline setting have a role to play in addressing human trafficking [...] (including) custodial staff, bathroom attendants, baggage handlers, skycaps, retail associates, food vendors, and information desk staff.”
